The whole thing, we had do everything to finish NY
After we finished our Graham dance coerce we had to do the whole NY thing. We went to empire state building and it only took us about 30 min the hole ting, up and looking and down. And we can not say anything else than we looked extra nice coming straight from graham class.

In the evening we had to celebrate so we went to a Mexican restaurant, well once I have been feed by a waiter but this time the waiter could not resist and give us a big hug after the dinner.

On Saturday we did all the taxies we could do, it began with the water taxi that we had to wait for more than an hour bud we did not really mind it was sunny weather, then we went to Central park and there we got a bike tax round the park where the driver had to sweat a lot for us. Then on the way home we just did it the NY way, we took a normal taxi.

On the Sunday we made now friends, the staff in the restaurant down stairs are our new best friends and we where not allowed to pay for our food where they sad we made business bloom. Also we met this really nice women on the street that started to chat to us and tell us about her dating experience, and when she found out that Katla was going to say alone for the next week she really wanted to get her number to meet up with her where she thought Katla would bring her good luck with meeting guys, well if she only knew how good Katla is at dating!!

Well the highlight of the week was tonight, Katla´s B –day and our double date with Neal and Maurice. Uff we are not really able to breath we ate too much and Hrafnhildur is going to have a “kransæðastífla” to night. Well we went to Maurice restaurant and Katla is still trying to recover from the entire meet, well it was the most meet restaurant ever. We where able tp make it into a very nice evening with a lot of laughing over Neal stories, he really is our man… “What do you mean your man?” and, Katla got her B-day song and everything.

Well now it is time to have a walk around and for Hrafnhildur to say good buy to NY, NY will never be the same without her.

Merce is our man

The day started with, hahhhh!!! I do have sore muscles, ahhh my back my hips, my thighs, but after having the porridge we where fine. Then we where on the rode, the first class to day was in the Cunningham studio, where we had a new teacher, Janet Charleston, she was grate.

After the class we had to rush to get to the Graham school, where our next class was, so we went from doing curves to contractions. And to remind people how small the world is Katla met one of her fellow students from Laban at the Graham school.

After Graham class we went to one of our favourite places Lincon Center but in the library there is an exhibition with Cunningham, so we spent few hours there to learn more about our man these days.
After that we went to Capizzio, one of the best store to by dance chlothes. Well we did spend some money there but dance is our work and we need the best things :)

Finally on our way home Hrafnhildur got her Pizza what she has been dreaming of for few days now, just like in Sex in the City. The pizza was good, but now the best thing is shower and some arnica message oil for sore muscles.

Já þetta var alveg æðisleg sýning sem við forum á í bókasafninu í dag um hann Merce, og þarna sátum við eins og mestu aðdáendur og drukkum í okkur alla þekkinguna sem við gátum. Síðan urðum við aðeins að skella okkur í Julliard´s þar sem hann er nú samkeppnisskóli Laban.

Annars gerðum við eina uppgvötun í dag, við fundum kaffihús sem skildi okkur og var með almennilegt kaffi, en enn sem komið er vitum við bara um tvö svona kaffihús og annað er hjá Lincon Center 66 stræti og hitt er í Greenwich Willage 3 stræti. Kannski ekki alveg í nágrenninu en allt er hægt.

Dance, laugh, floss and travel

Well we maid it trough the Cunningham intensive week. It was grate and we ended by performing in the Cunningham studio part from the piece “Phrases” for gests and staff, and we where breath taking!!

Then it was time to celebrate, on our way home we went to this best shoe shop, whooooo we just could not resist there where to many beautiful shoes, so it ended with us buying 2 pairs each but they are just the best.
Then we got home and got ready to continue our celebration that had no ending, just a grate evening.

We also went to the Zoo during the weekend but we did not really enjoy it because we just felt sorry for the polar bear, it was way to hot and then we tried to sun bath in Central park but we just sweated like pigs so we kind of became part of the zoo animals.

To day we where back to dance, we started in the Graham school to have a graham class, it was a good class but the highlight of the day was when we went to the Cunningham studio to take the evening class there. Merce Cunningham him self was in the studio working with the under studies.


Já það er ótrúlegt að það sé kominn meira en ein vika sem við höfum verið hér, þetta er búið að vera gersamlega frábært, og það er allt of mikið að gera.

Enskan okkar er nú ekkert að skána og sérstaklega ekki eftir að við kynntumst nokkrum Áströlum en vá það er nú bara ekki hægt að skilja hreiminn þeirra og það fannst okkur svo ferlega fyndið að við hlógum heilan dag út af því. En okkur hefur farið fram við að panta kaffi en einhverra hluta vegna er kaffið hérna ferlega vont. Hvað er málið?

Annar var það frábært í dag að mæta í Cunningham studio og svo situr bara herrann þarna og er að leiðbeina ungu dönsurunum sínum. Þessi maður er náttúrulega bara snillingur og hann er ennþá að þrátt fyrir að vera nálgast nírætt.

Planið í þessari viku er svo að halda áfram að mæta í Graham og Cunningham og svo reyna hafa tíma til að taka e.a. annað í öðrum studiom.

Lets dance!!

Well we realized yesterday that we think we are dancers! We saw this tiny old man that was just so cute that we could not stop watching him dance. The atmosphere on the plaza in front of Lincon Center was amazing where everyone was dancing on this open ball. Few brave men’s tried to ask us for a dance, but we just giggled and told them we could not dance.

To day we had a cosy evening, well in fact we just did not have extra energy to go around from dancing in 37°C for 6 hours and then getting soaked in the rain on our way home. The cosy evening was perfect, homemade dinner sponsored by Whole Foods, spa sponsored by Duane reade, and TV sponsored by our friend Neal. Well neither of us have had TV for more than a year so it was a new to us to watch it, and if Dirty dancing is on how can miss that?


Já stemmingin á torginu við Lincon Center í gær var einstök en um er að ræða úti danshátíð þar sem allir mæta með dansskóna sína og góða skapið og dansa síðan swing. Á leiðinni heim ákváðum við að vera svolítið svara á því og skella okkur í strædó, já ég er ekkert viss um að við nennum því aftur þar sem þetta var með verri strædó ferðum þar sem strædóinn rykkir og þjösnast áfram í umferðinni og svo vorum við ekki að skilja hvernig þetta allt virkaði en við fórum auðvitað út á réttri stöð sem var bókstaflega fyrir utan húsið okkar, ekkert mál fyrir okkur!!

Já svo var nauðsynlegt að taka því rólega í kvöld, þetta er sko ekki létt að dansa í öllum þessum hita sérstaklega þegar maður þarf að einbeita sér að því að vera læra Cunningham dansverk, en rigningin á leiðinni heim í dag hressti okkur ágætlega þar sem það var ekki þurr þráður á okkur eftir herlegheitin. Kannski skellum við regnhlífinni í töskuna á morgun, hver veit.

Well even the world is big the dance world is so small, at Lincon Center we met Rebecka Jarkko´s girlfriend from Laban, than we where walking on Union square and there we met Steinunn again, and then when we went to the Cunningham studio to day we also met 3 girls from UK that are also in Laban. Small World!!

Cunningham day, Well Mr. Cunningham was not in to day but we in our class where Robert Swinston his main assistant, and some old Cunningham dancers. The class was a bit slow but good to wake up the technique in the body. The rest of the day was not slow, we began to learn “Phrases” and it was complicated, well just like Cunningham doeses.


NY gengin endanna á milli. Við þrömmuðum allan daginn um borgina í glampandi sól og blíðu. Fyrst byrjuðum við á því að finna Cunningham skólann og síðan fórum við niður að flóa til að horfa á frelsis styttuna úr fjarska, en veið skelltum okkur ekki í siglinguna í þetta skiptið en stefnan er tekin á að taka Taxa bát og láta hann skulla okkur þetta á ofurhraða þar sem við nennum ekki að hanga allt of lengi með túristum!!!

Annars erum við í tómu tjóni, við erum hálf blindar og heyrnarlausar og svo skiljum við ekkert hvað fólkið hérna er að segja og svo skilur það okkur ekki. Katla var að reyna að panta coppoccino, ha!!! Cup of tea!!! En við fundum ráð við skellum bara klemmu á nefið á okkur og svo tölum við svona reiðbrennandi amrísku !!

En núna erum við búnar á því eftir erfiðan dag og tími að fara að nudda tærnar og slaka á.

Neal is your man!!

Well we are her in NY and It is beutiful, when we came we had to contact this man called Neal to get our key´s. That was one of the funniest thing, He was different! and the apparment is just like a palace. Well after we used 1/2 of the day cleaning it, with a lot of music and Mr Muscle, we love him!!!

Yesterday the 070707. it was a beutiful day!! We did some shopping, Victoria´s secret, so we would smell good in the stinking apartment with Mr. Muscle, then we found the best food marked, Huhhhhhh, whooow, they had everything, then we met Steinunn and she told us everything to know about NY, where the best classes are, shows and everyting and Katla bought a new phone but se is very uppset no one has phoned her jet or texted her, and she does not know how it workes, Blond!!!! (please help her!! 0013476036608)

Then the highlight of the evening, well not the way to it, the underground was to sweaty for us and our nice makup from Victorya´s ended in klinex. We went to Lincon Center to say hi to Julie Kent and her friends Cooper Nielson and Jody Sawyer. Yester day they performed Cinderella, uhhhhh, whow, really good.

To day, hummm, finding and havig coffee with Merce, he is rellay excited to meet us we to we to!

Anyway why spending more time on the internet when we have NY.


Já Neal okkar tók á móti okkur fyrir utan íbúðina, hressasti kall í heimi, hann ætlaði bara að giftast okkur! Neal var með okkur hátt í 2 tíma að útskýra allt í íbúðinni, mestur tímii fór í mjaðmahnykkinn sem þarf til að opna hurðina, Hrafnhildur hefur náð góðum tökum á því, Fjarstýringin fyrir sjónvarpið var einnig kennslustund útaf fyrir sig þar sem við höfðum aldrei séð sjónvarp áður, svo þurftum við að rekja úr honum garnirnar hvernig hann þekkti æsku vin okkar Maurice. við skiljum þá sögu ekki ennþá!!

já gærdagrinn fór í þrif á íbúðinn þar sem Mr. Muscle var mikil hjálp, en hvað er skemmtilegra en að vera í útlöndum og þrífa skít annarra, jú fara í Victoria´s Secret og kaupa ilmefni á okkur. Svo hittum við Steinunni danshöfund frá Íslandi og hún leiddi okkur um allan sannleikann um NY og hvað er að gerast hér.

Hápunktur dagsis var American Ballet Theater þar sem við skelltum okkur á sýningu þeirra á Öskubusku, ok það þarf ekki að segja meira um það þetta var bara flott.

Long time ago!!

Well yes it has been a long time since I wrote something, but why, well I lost my intrest, why now? why english? why my bad english? well me and Hrafnhidlur are on our way to NY so we better practis our english and start telling peopele all the grate things we will be doing there.

Well we are going to The big Apple to dance, we are going to study in the Cunningham studio and in the Martha GRaham school. jehhhhhh... Hrafnhildur is staying for 2 weeks but I will be there for 5 weeks, we will see how it will turn ou.

our flight is in few hours and then we will have to find the apartment we are going to stay in....

Já við Hrafnhildur erum að skella okkur til NY. Ég er bara að gera mér grein fyrir því að ég er virkilega að fara núna á eftir, og ég á bara ekki eftir að gera neitt annað en að borða. Það er virkilega óalgengt, að ég haldi að ég sé tímaleg.

En hvað um það vegna fjölda áskoranna þá hef ég ákveðið að reyna að blogga smá um veru mína í NY en bara með því skilyrði að það verða skrifuð e.u. athugasemdir hjá mér!!! en þó svo að ég lofi e.u. svona þá getur það alltaf klikkað og hvort ég í raun og veru hafi e.u. tíma.

En ég er að fara til NY með Hrafnhildi til að dansa og dansa, húrra hér kem ég
